This course is an introduction to the Korean language for beginners. Students will learn basic Korean language useful in daily communication by listening, speaking and writing within and beyond the classroom setting. Lessons begin with the custom and tradition of the native-speaking country to give students an overview, followed by Korean alphabet and numbers, basic greetings and grammar that helps students to develop their communication skills with the subject matter. As the course progresses, students may begin to apply the acquired language skills to real tourism related situation such as airport assistance, hotel services, tour guidance, and customer interaction.
At the end of the course, students are required to submit a final paper that presents culmination of the Korean language learned and its critical application relevant to the tourism perspective.
