Focus: The course focuses on the principles, theories, and strategies of effective communication in academic, professional, and mathematical contexts. It develops students’ abilities in critical reading, academic writing, oral presentation, evidence-based argumentation, and the clear communication of mathematical and quantitative information to diverse audiences. Emphasis is placed on audience awareness, logical reasoning, ethical communication, research, and accurate presentation of evidence and data.
Output: Students will develop an Individual Research-Based Communication Portfolio consisting of a written communication piece, oral presentation, and visual or quantitative communication material. The output demonstrates the ability to research, organize, interpret, and communicate mathematical or evidence-based information clearly, accurately, ethically, and appropriately for a specific audience.
Modality: The course is delivered through blended Open and Distance eLearning (ODeL) using the eMabini Portal. Asynchronous activities include readings, critical analysis, writing exercises, research tasks, and communication activities, while synchronous sessions focus on discussions, workshops, presentations, and feedback. Learning activities integrate research, critical thinking, mathematical reasoning, and practical communication skills.
